Damp conditions were forecast to persist along large portions of Queensland's east this next several days as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the shoreline.

Tomorrow was predicted as the wettest day, with ongoing severe weather risk predicted across different parts of both states.

Public health experts cautioned that there was an increased chance of weather-related respiratory issues across the northern rural areas, particularly given the existing atmospheric conditions.
